Job Overview
RwandAir Ltd, the national flag carrier airline of Rwanda, operates domestic and international services across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East from its hub at Kigali International Airport. As part of its expansion strategy, RwandAir is seeking a qualified and motivated Supply Chain Officer – AOG to support aircraft availability and airworthiness.
The role focuses on Aircraft on Ground (AOG) operations, ensuring timely availability of aircraft parts and materials, minimizing operational disruptions, and supporting rapid recovery of grounded aircraft in collaboration with the Maintenance Control Center (MCC).
Key Responsibilities
AOG & Operational Support
Support a 24/7 AOG operation to ensure rapid response to aircraft grounding events.
Ensure availability of spares, materials, and services to clear deferred defects (including cabin and IFE) within the shortest possible time.
Act as the focal point for AOG spares coordination and inquiries from internal teams and partner airlines.
Monitor all AOG and MEL-related shipments from dispatch to delivery, ensuring correct routing and timely arrival.
Coordinate return of loaned and exchanged components within agreed timelines to minimize costs.
Monitor recurrent AOG events and propose preventive measures to reduce future occurrences.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date AOG/MEL trackers and ensure TRAX eMRO is promptly updated.
Ensure suppliers provide correct documentation prior to shipment to avoid receiving discrepancies.
Verify availability of parts (NHA/NLA) internally before sourcing externally.
Supply Chain & Repair Management
Progress overdue repair orders and expedite priority components.
Raise and manage repair and service orders.
Monitor unserviceable inventory and initiate actions to expedite release.
Update TRAX eMRO with repair capabilities, pricing, and supplier information.
Review parts removed during maintenance for exchange, return, or further action.
Review and approve scrap notes and workflow order approvals.
Ensure all received parts are properly certified and documentation archived.
Explore open-market solutions for advance exchanges and loan components when required.
Leadership & Talent Development
Train and support staff to ensure effective succession planning.
Contribute to national talent development by coaching and mentoring RwandAir staff.
Support staff development in line with operational and business requirements.
Safety, Data Protection & Compliance
Ensure compliance with Safety Management System (SMS), quality, security, and environmental policies.
Report and follow up on incidents, hazards, and near misses.
Ensure all data handling complies with RwandAir’s data protection and confidentiality policies.
Promote environmental responsibility in supply chain and operational decision-making.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance, Trade, Supply Chain Management, or vocational aircraft maintenance qualification,
OR Bachelor’s degree (BEng, BSc) in Aircraft Engineering or related field with at least 3 years’ experience in supply chain.Working knowledge of aircraft spares purchasing and materials management.
Knowledge of international procurement, customs clearance, and logistics processes.
Completion of Hazardous Materials training.
Familiarity with OEM and regulatory documentation systems.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage large datasets and ensure data accuracy.
Fluency in English (French or Kinyarwanda is an added advantage).
Preferred
Experience with aircraft maintenance and engineering systems such as TRAX or AMOS.
Previous involvement in aircraft maintenance activities.
