Job Overview
RwandAir Ltd, the flag carrier airline of Rwanda, is expanding its technical operations. The Senior Development Engineer will enhance aircraft performance, ensure continued airworthiness, and support the TRAX eMRO system. This role contributes to safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance operations while supporting the development of Rwandan nationals in aviation engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate technical documentation, proposals, and modification requests to ensure compliance with airworthiness standards.
Monitor and optimize aircraft, engine, APU, and component maintenance programs.
Support TRAX eMRO setup, data management, and staff training to enhance technical operations.
Provide specialist advice for complex aircraft technical issues, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
Lead engineering projects, including aircraft induction, major modifications, and new equipment acquisition.
Supervise and develop team members, ensuring succession planning and competency assessments.
Implement and maintain safety, environmental, and data protection standards within the Technical Department.
Maintain accurate aircraft, engine, and component records and configuration management systems.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aviation Maintenance, or related technical field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in aviation technical services, documentation, or engineering records management.
Solid knowledge of aircraft airworthiness, regulatory compliance (EASA/ICAO/RCAA), and configuration control.
Minimum 4 years’ experience with TRAX eMRO or equivalent system (preferred).
Experience with aircraft maintenance and engineering systems, audits, and lease transitions is an advantage.
Skills & Personal Attributes
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage large datasets and ensure data integrity.
Knowledge of airworthiness records, document control, and configuration management.
Fluent in English; French or Kinyarwanda is an advantage.
