1. Role Summary
The Accountant supports the Finance Department by maintaining accurate financial records, processing daily transactions, and contributing to financial reporting, reconciliation, and compliance. Under the supervision of the Senior Accountant, the role ensures strong internal controls and efficient financial operations in alignment with Ecofleet’s strategic goals.
2. Scope of the Role
Maintain accurate and timely financial records for administrative and operational activities.
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
Assist in audit preparation, budgeting, and financial analysis.
Provide reliable financial insights to support departmental decision-making.
3. Key Responsibilities
a) Financial Processing & Record Keeping
Record daily financial transactions in the accounting system.
Prepare and post journal entries under supervision.
Maintain accurate general ledger accounts.
Properly file, label, and store supporting financial documents.
b) Reconciliation & Reporting Support
Conduct bank and petty cash reconciliations.
Reconcile vendor statements and customer accounts.
Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
Assist in preparing financial schedules and periodic reports.
c) Compliance & Internal Controls
Ensure financial transactions comply with internal policies and standards.
Support preparation of tax declarations and statutory submissions.
Assist in implementing internal control procedures and compliance checks.
d) Audit & Budget Support
Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
Assist in data collection for budgeting and forecasting.
e) Other Duties
Support continuous improvement of finance processes and systems.
Perform additional finance-related tasks as assigned.

Timely and accurate posting of financial transactions and reconciliations.
Clean, well-maintained general ledger accounts.
On-time completion of monthly and annual closing tasks.
Audit-ready documentation and high-quality financial schedules.
Consistent compliance with internal control and regulatory requirements.
Effective collaboration with stakeholders across departments.
5. Working Relationships
Internal
Senior Accountant – Direct supervision and task mentorship.
CFO – Support on reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
Finance Team – Coordination for reconciliations and transaction processing.
Other Departments (Operations, People & Culture, Procurement, Sustainability & E-Mobility, Digital, Administration) – Verification of documents and vendor-related follow-up.
External
Banks and financial institutions.
Suppliers, service providers, and customers.
External auditors and regulatory authorities.

8. Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in accounting or financial operations.
Preferred
Experience in transport, infrastructure, or public sector entities.
Familiarity with accounting systems (Sage, QuickBooks, or ERP platforms).
Knowledge of tax regulations and financial compliance in Rwanda.
Progress toward CPA or ACCA certification (added advantage).
