Program Overview
CHAI Rwanda’s Infectious Diseases & Pandemic Preparedness cluster supports the Government of Rwanda in:
Strengthening diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases
Enhancing surveillance systems using innovative technologies
Supporting early warning detection, outbreak prediction, and response
Integrating climate and health systems for better decision-making
Key focus areas include:
Infectious disease elimination
Laboratory and surveillance systems
Pandemic preparedness and response
Climate-health integration
Position Overview
CHAI is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Associate to support the Infectious Diseases program.
The role requires:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Collaboration with government institutions and partners
The Associate will work closely with:
Rwanda Biomedical Centre
Ministry of Health Rwanda
Other health sector partners
👤 Reports To: Senior Program Manager – Infectious Diseases & PPR
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with leadership to develop operational plans
Build and maintain strong relationships with government and stakeholders
Support development and rollout of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
Support supply chain integration within program planning
Assist implementation of:
surveillance systems (including AMR)
hepatitis programs
diagnostic interventions
Support planning and coordination of:
trainings
workshops
meetings
Develop program reports through:
data analysis
content development
synthesis of findings
Provide technical and capacity-building support to government staff
Identify program gaps and propose practical solutions
Conduct analyses and present findings clearly
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
Master’s degree in:
Public Health
Epidemiology
Laboratory Sciences
or related field
3–5 years of experience in health programs (laboratory, supply chain, etc.)
Experience across program stages:
design
implementation
evaluation
Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical (quantitative & qualitative) skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving ability
Project management skills with minimal supervision
Ability to synthesize complex information into clear reports and presentations
High adaptability and ability to work under pressure
Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills
Proficiency in:
Microsoft Excel
PowerPoint
Word
High level of confidentiality and research ethics awareness
