Position Summary

The Spa Therapist is responsible for delivering exceptional massage and body treatment services to guests in a luxury spa environment. The role focuses on guest comfort, safety, professionalism, and service excellence while upholding Marriott International and JW Marriott brand standards.

The Spa Therapist will assess guest needs, perform massage and body treatments, promote spa services and retail products, and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming treatment environment.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Service & Treatments

• Provide professional massage services using appropriate props, products, and techniques

• Perform body treatments including body scrubs, wraps, and hydrotherapy

• Assess guest needs and inquire about contraindications (e.g. allergies, pregnancy, high blood pressure) prior to treatment

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of massage techniques and treatment modalities

• Escort guests to and from treatment rooms and ensure a smooth guest experience

• Monitor guest comfort, safety, and satisfaction throughout the service

Spa Operations & Sales

• Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, workstations, linens, and equipment

• Promote and sell spa and salon services, including retail products

• Manage appointment timing and adhere strictly to treatment schedules

• Clean, sterilize, and maintain tools and equipment

• Dispose of used linens and waste and secure supplies at the end of each shift

Safety, Conduct & Compliance

• Handle inappropriate guest behavior according to Marriott International SOPs, including stopping treatment and notifying management when required

• Report accidents, injuries, or unsafe working conditions to supervisors

• Follow all company policies, safety training, and certification requirements

• Maintain professional appearance, hygiene, and confidentiality at all times

Teamwork & Professional Conduct

• Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and colleagues

• Develop and maintain positive working relationships

• Support team objectives and uphold JW Marriott service culture

• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 10 pounds

• Strong fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity

Required Qualifications

• License/Certification: Valid State or Regional Massage Therapy License

• Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year of relevant spa or massage therapy experience

• Education: Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree (preferred)

• Supervisory Experience: Not required
