VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT – FINANCE MANAGER

Location: Kigali, Rwanda (Head Office, with required field visits)

Position Overview

Ntare Community Farming is seeking a highly skilled Finance Manager to lead the financial planning, reporting, and fiscal oversight of its agribusiness operations. This role covers both macadamia crop production and livestock enterprises, including piggery, poultry, and cattle management.

In addition to financial management, the Finance Manager will supervise and hold disciplinary leadership over the Agronomist and Veterinary Farm Manager, ensuring operational activities align with budget expectations and organizational goals. The role also involves consolidating weekly and monthly operational reports to support data-driven decision-making across the farm.


Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Develop, manage, and monitor annual budgets and financial forecasts for all farm units.

  • Conduct profitability analyses for macadamia operations and piggery production.

  • Track and interpret key financial and operational KPIs to enhance cost-effectiveness and organizational efficiency.

2. Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Oversee daily accounting activities, including payroll, invoicing, payments, and asset management.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and proper alignment with agricultural production cycles.

  • Maintain accurate cost accounting for inputs such as feed, fertilizers, veterinary services, and farm consumables.

3. Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  • Review and consolidate weekly and monthly reports submitted by the Agronomist and Veterinary Farm Manager.

  • Analyze yield data, livestock productivity, and cost-efficiency trends.

4. Cash Flow & Treasury Management

  • Manage cash flow for crop sales (macadamia, tree tomato, maize) and livestock outputs (piggery, cattle, poultry).

  • Forecast short- and long-term cash requirements to ensure uninterrupted operations.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with banks and financial institutions.

5. Taxation & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to all Rwandan tax laws and statutory financial regulations.

  • Coordinate audit processes and follow up on audit recommendations.

  • Stay informed about tax incentives, subsidies, or policy changes affecting agribusiness.

6. Leadership & Staff Supervision

  • Provide direct supervision, leadership, and disciplinary authority over the Agronomist and Veterinary Farm Manager.

  • Set performance targets, monitor progress, and support capacity development for technical teams.

  • Ensure agricultural and livestock practices are aligned with approved budgets and the overall farm strategy.

7. Operational Reporting Oversight

  • Develop structured reporting tools and schedules for both crop and livestock units.

  • Validate and consolidate:

    • Weekly piggery production and animal health reports

    • Weekly field activity and crop progress reports

    • Monthly summaries including budget vs. actuals and performance indicators

  • Use collected data to inform financial decisions, operational improvements, and investment planning.

8. Procurement & Inventory Oversight

  • Review and approve procurement requests for inputs such as chemicals, seeds, livestock feed, and veterinary drugs.

  • Monitor inventory usage and identify inefficiencies, losses, or variances.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Agribusiness.
    (CPA, ACCA, or a Master’s degree is preferred.)

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in financial management, ideally within agribusiness or livestock production.

  • Demonstrated experience supervising teams and coordinating across departments.

  • Strong knowledge of crop and livestock production cycles.

  • Familiarity with the Rwandan tax framework, especially agricultural compliance.

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage, and advanced Excel skills.

  • Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda.

Working Conditions

  • Position based in Kigali with frequent visits to farm locations.

  • Field presence required during key agricultural and livestock production periods (harvest, breeding, etc.).

  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak operational seasons.
