Position Overview
The Clinical Psychologist (Counselor) will provide psychological and emotional support to students and staff, while coordinating student wellness programs and development initiatives.
The role includes:
Individual and group counseling
Workshop facilitation
Crisis intervention
Student support system development
Key Responsibilities
1. Counseling & Psychological Support
Provide support for:
anxiety
depression
stress
substance misuse
relationship challenges
Conduct individual and group counseling sessions
Perform crisis intervention and suicide risk assessments
Maintain confidential counseling records
2. Clinical Services
Conduct psychological assessments for new students
Develop and implement follow-up care plans
Manage mental health emergencies
Develop case management plans and coordinate referrals to psychiatric/external services
3. Programs & Awareness
Design and deliver:
psychoeducational programs
mental health awareness initiatives
Organize and facilitate campus workshops
Develop and support student advisory groups
4. Collaboration & Support Systems
Work closely with:
Campus Health Services
Academic Advisors
Student Affairs Office
Student Guild
Support students at academic or personal risk
Strengthen support systems for:
Kepler Kigali campus
Kepler Kiziba campus
5. Staff Support & Supervision
Conduct clinical supervision sessions for teaching staff
Promote staff wellbeing and mental health awareness
Qualifications & Experience
Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology
Valid professional license
Minimum 5 years of counseling experience
Experience in:
narrative therapy
higher education environments
Strong leadership and coordination skills
Computer literacy
