About Ubumwe SACCO Gakenke (USG)
Ubumwe SACCO Gakenke (USG) is the Head Office of all Umurenge SACCOs in Gakenke District, following their merger in August 2025. USG is duly registered under RCA Certificate No. RGDG013305 and licensed by the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR).
In accordance with Law Nº 072/2021 of 05/11/2021 governing Deposit-Taking Microfinance Institutions, USG is authorized to conduct microfinance activities in the Republic of Rwanda.
USG invites applications from qualified, committed, and customer-oriented professionals for the position of IT Officer.
Position Summary
The IT Officer is responsible for managing, securing, and optimizing the SACCO’s information technology systems to ensure efficient operations, data security, and high-quality service delivery.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Systems Management and Maintenance
Install, configure, and maintain all IT hardware (computers, servers, printers) and software systems.
Administer operating systems, core banking systems, and enterprise applications.
Conduct routine maintenance to ensure system reliability and performance.
2. Network Management
Manage and monitor Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN).
Oversee internet connectivity, firewall configurations, and network security.
3. Cybersecurity and Data Protection
Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
Manage user access rights, system permissions, and authentication controls.
Monitor and respond to cyber threats.
Ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
Implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
4. Technical Support and Training
Provide first-line technical support to staff.
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
Train staff on new systems and cybersecurity best practices.
5. Data Management and Reporting
Administer databases and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Perform regular data backups and recovery testing.
Prepare periodic system performance and security reports for management.
6. Innovation and Vendor Management
Research and recommend emerging technologies (e.g., mobile banking solutions).
Manage relationships with external IT service providers and vendors.
Ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or Business Information Technology
Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
Basic IT literacy in Core Banking Systems (CBS) and MS Office
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Professional certifications are an added advantage:
CompTIA A+
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
ITIL Foundation Certification
Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) or Azure Certifications
