Job Overview
The Kitchen Assistant will work closely with the Head Chef, helping bridge the gap between kitchen leadership and daily operations.
The role involves:
Supervising kitchen operations
Supporting food preparation and quality control
Assisting with menu development
Ensuring operational efficiency and high culinary standards
This position requires strong culinary skills, creativity, and leadership to maintain Sambora Kinigi Lodge’s international culinary standards.
Key Responsibilities
Culinary Excellence
Assist the Head Chef in designing and refining menus aligned with Sambora Kinigi’s culinary vision.
Supervise food preparation to ensure quality, presentation, and consistency.
Support development of signature dishes.
Train and mentor kitchen staff to improve culinary skills and performance.
Operational Management
Coordinate daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth service.
Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.
Manage inventory, procurement, and stock rotation.
Implement standard operating procedures to improve kitchen efficiency.
Team Collaboration
Inspire and lead kitchen staff, promoting teamwork and communication.
Support the Head Chef in menu planning, events, and staff reviews.
Coordinate with front-of-house teams for smooth guest service.
Guest Satisfaction
Monitor guest feedback on food quality.
Support special dietary requirements and personalized culinary requests.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Kitchen Assistant in a high-end restaurant or luxury hospitality environment
Culinary degree or equivalent professional training
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
Creative and innovative approach to menu development
In-depth knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to perform well in a fast-paced kitchen environment
