POSITION: Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Officer
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing/Midwifery, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, or another related field
Minimum of 2 years’ experience providing national-level or facility-level support in IPC and/or WASH implementation
Demonstrated experience supporting health facilities in IPC, WASH, or outbreak preparedness and response
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong knowledge of national IPC standards, WHO IPC guidelines, and WASH-FIT methodologies
Excellent communication, coaching, mentoring, and reporting skills
Strong technical expertise in IPC and WASH systems
Proven capacity-building and mentorship skills
Ability to use data for decision-making and quality improvement
Effective coordination and collaboration skills with government institutions and partners
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide hands-on technical support to strengthen Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) systems at King Faisal Hospital
Support the prevention of healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs) and strengthen outbreak prevention and preparedness
Conduct routine IPC/WASH facility assessments and follow up on implementation of improvement plans
Support and strengthen functional IPC/WASH committees, including Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) initiatives
Mentor IPC/WASH committees on monitoring, surveillance, data analysis, and action planning
Support collection, analysis, auditing, and use of IPC data for continuous quality improvement
Ensure functionality and maintenance of WASH infrastructure, including water supply, sanitation, hand hygiene, waste management, cleaning, and disinfection practices
Lead and support facility-level training, coaching, and mentorship aligned with national IPC policies and strategic plans
Facilitate dissemination and use of IPC/WASH guidelines, SOPs, and job aids at facility level
Provide technical support for procurement and supply chain management of IPC/WASH equipment, supplies, and consumables
Collaborate with hospital departments to ensure harmonized IPC/WASH practices
Document and share lessons learned, challenges, and best practices
Perform any other IPC/WASH-related duties assigned by the supervisor in support of national health priorities
