VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT – RELATIONSHIP OFFICERS

UMUTANGUHA Finance Company (UFC) Plc, a licensed Microfinance Institution operating under the National Bank of Rwanda, is seeking dynamic, self-driven, persuasive, and customer-focused individuals to join its team as Relationship Officers.

We are looking for candidates with excellent communication, sales abilities, and strong client relationship skills to support our mission of providing high-quality financial services across Rwanda.


Key Responsibilities

A. Savings Mobilization

The Relationship Officer will drive deposit growth at the branch level by mobilizing savings and new accounts from both existing and potential clients. Key duties include:

  • Growing deposit volumes through customer acquisition and active field mobilization.

  • Promoting and selling UFC deposit products to current and prospective customers.

  • Building, strengthening, and maintaining long-term customer relationships through regular visits and engagement.

  • Identifying new business opportunities and cross-selling appropriate financial solutions.

  • Supporting savings promotional activities based on the branch’s operational needs.

  • Ensuring newly opened accounts are actively used by customers.

  • Managing the branch’s High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNWI) portfolio.

  • Meeting all business and deposit acquisition targets efficiently and on time.


B. Credit Responsibilities

The Relationship Officer is accountable for the quality and growth of the loan portfolio within the assigned branch. Duties include:

  • Mobilizing clients interested in accessing credit services.

  • Training individual clients and group members on UFC lending methodologies.

  • Supervising financial education sessions delivered by client trainers.

  • Monitoring client and group activities while offering guidance and support.

  • Conducting credit risk assessments through business and household visits to evaluate repayment capacity.

  • Preparing and submitting accurate loan documentation to facilitate disbursements.

  • Maintaining complete and updated loan records at the branch level.

  • Following up with borrowers to ensure timely repayment and loan recovery.

  • Participating in cluster meetings and implementing recovery actions for delinquent loans.

  • Preparing periodic reports on client numbers, repayments, PAR, recoveries, and follow-up actions.


C. Sales of Financial Products & Delivery Channels

  • Develop marketing and field plans to grow a reliable and active client base.

  • Identify, educate, and engage potential customers within the branch’s catchment area.

  • Sensitize clients on UFC Plc’s alternative delivery channels.

  • Refer eligible clients to other UFC departments for different financial products.


Performance Indicators

Performance will be evaluated based on:

  • Portfolio at Risk (PAR)

  • Value and growth of the outstanding loan portfolio

  • Number and growth of active loan clients

  • Growth in savings portfolio and number of saving customers

  • Strength and quality of client relationships

  • Customer service excellence

  • Compliance with Client Protection Principles

  • Upholding UFC Plc’s reputation

  • Fulfillment of any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor


Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management, Finance, Banking, or related fields.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the banking or microfinance sector (preferably in Business or Credit operations).

  • Strong understanding of bank operations, lending processes, and credit analysis.

  • Excellent sales, negotiation, and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Willingness and ability to work in any UFC branch across Rwanda.

  • A valid Category A driving license is an added advantage.

  • Maximum age: 40 years old.
