About RATA
Rwanda Assistive Technology Access (RATA) is an NGO established in 2018, dedicated to ensuring accessible Assistive Technology (AT) for persons with disabilities. Its vision is to foster a community where students and individuals with disabilities can learn and live independently through AT.
In collaboration with the Rwanda TVET Board (RTB) and supported by SDC, RATA is implementing a one-year project to improve access to quality Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for students with disabilities through Assistive Technology integration in 100 TVET schools nationwide.
Purpose of the Position
The Project Coordinator will manage, coordinate, and oversee the project, ensuring timely delivery of activities, adherence to scope and budget, and compliance with donor, RATA, and RTB requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Coordination
Lead planning, coordination, and day-to-day management of project activities.
Develop and update work plans, schedules, and coordination matrices.
Coordinate with RTB, TVET schools, trainers, consultants, and other stakeholders.
Ensure smooth implementation of project phases, including ToTs, teacher training, awareness campaigns, AT distribution, and resource center establishment.
Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships
Serve as primary liaison between RATA and RTB.
Coordinate with TVET schools, district authorities, MINEDUC structures, OPDs, and community actors.
Support advocacy and awareness campaigns for inclusive TVET enrollment.
Participate in coordination meetings, workshops, and policy dialogues.
Technical Oversight and Quality Assurance
Oversee development and review of training modules and accessible digital content.
Ensure training aligns with national TVET curricula and inclusive education standards.
Supervise teacher training, ToTs, and master trainer sessions.
Ensure assistive technologies provided are appropriate and functional.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
Coordinate routine monitoring of project activities and outputs.
Ensure timely collection and review of monitoring reports.
Support baseline, midline, and endline evaluations.
Prepare narrative reports for donors and partners.
Assist in project evaluation and audit processes.
Financial and Administrative Coordination
Track project expenditures with the Finance team.
Ensure timely submission of procurement requests and budgets.
Monitor cost-effectiveness and resource use.
Support donor compliance and accountability requirements.
Risk Management and Problem Solving
Identify and mitigate implementation risks.
Resolve operational challenges in a timely manner.
Maintain strong communication within the project team.
Knowledge Management and Sustainability
Promote institutional learning within RATA and partner institutions.
Support sustainability strategies, including integration of AT content into CPD programs and RTB platforms.
Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories.
Deliverables
Approved annual and quarterly work plans
Timely donor and internal narrative reports
Coordinated and documented training and awareness campaigns
Functional collaboration with RTB and TVET schools
Contribution to baseline, final evaluation, and audit reports
Documented lessons learned and best practices
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Project Management, Inclusive and Special Needs Education, Disability Studies, ICT for Development, or a related field (Master’s is an advantage).
3–5 years of progressive experience coordinating education, inclusion, ICT, or development projects.
Experience working with government institutions, preferably in education or TVET.
Experience in disability inclusion, inclusive education, or assistive technology projects is highly desirable.
Proven experience managing donor-funded projects.
