About Ntare Louisenlund School (Rwanda)

Ntare Louisenlund School (Rwanda) is on a mission to become Africa’s leading secondary school, championing academic excellence and forward-looking education. Through its innovative Plus-STEM program, the school seeks to attract top talent in mathematics, natural sciences, computer science, and technology from Rwanda and across East Africa—nurturing the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and global changemakers.

The school sits on a 60-hectare campus in Bugesera District, only a 45-minute drive from Kigali, and is designed to accommodate up to 1,000 boarding students. Its international academic structure prepares learners for competitive scholarships at prestigious universities worldwide. Students are enrolled in two distinct pathways:

  • IB Plus-STEM and STEM Excellence Streams (scholarship-based and assessment-selected)

  • IB Star Entrepreneurship Stream (fee-paying students from across Africa)

As the school works toward candidacy as an IB World School, it currently offers the IB Middle Years Programme and plans to introduce the IB Diploma Programme in 2028.

Ntare Louisenlund School is operated by Ntare Louisenlund CBC in partnership with Stiftung Louisenlund, a German institution with over 75 years of expertise in operating world-class boarding schools. A strategic collaboration with the Government of Rwanda is also in development to select scholarship-eligible Plus-STEM students.
