Recovery Officer Job Vacancy – UMUTANGUHA Finance Company (UFC) Plc

UMUTANGUHA Finance Company (UFC) Plc is licensed Microfinance Institution regulated by the National Bank of Rwanda and headquartered in Kigali. The company is seeking qualified and motivated professionals to join its recovery and credit risk management team.

This opportunity is ideal for candidates with experience in loan recovery, credit monitoring, and financial analysis who are looking to contribute to reducing non-performing loans within a regulated financial institution.


Job Overview

The Recovery Officer will be responsible for managing and coordinating loan recovery activities, particularly non-performing and written-off loans, while working closely with branches, credit teams, and external partners to minimize financial losses.


Key Responsibilities (Curated Summary)

  • Plan and monitor recovery strategies for non-performing and written-off loans

  • Coordinate with branches, credit officers, and relationship managers to track loan performance

  • Analyze recovery performance, including auctioneer effectiveness, and prepare regular reports

  • Support branches with technical guidance on loan recovery in line with internal credit policies

  • Monitor credit facilities for compliance with loan agreements

  • Engage borrowers to collect accurate information and negotiate realistic repayment plans

  • Manage and schedule debt recovery actions, including coordination with debt collectors

  • Ensure recovery activities contribute to maintaining institutional NPL targets

  • Consolidate recovery reports and provide insights to management

  • Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Law, or a related field

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in loan recovery, credit services, or financial institutions

  • Strong understanding of banking and microfinance products

  • Proven negotiation and debt collection skills

  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial information

  • Good customer service and relationship management skills

  • Strong interpersonal and time-management abilities


Language & Technical Skills

  • Working proficiency in English and French

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel required)

  • Knowledge of UFC’s core banking system (ICBS) is an added advantage
