To strengthen its Early Childhood Development initiatives, Better World Rwanda is seeking a qualified and motivated ECD Program Officer.
Position Overview
The ECD Program Officer will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, monitoring, and quality assurance of Early Childhood Development (ECD) interventions in Rwamagana District. The role focuses on improving service delivery, strengthening caregiver capacity, enhancing school readiness, and ensuring alignment with national ECD guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor ECD program activities to track progress, quality, and effective resource utilization.
Assess the quality of ECD services in line with national ECD standards and guidelines.
Ensure ECD centers implement the approved ECD curriculum effectively.
Provide continuous coaching and mentoring support to caregivers to improve service quality.
Facilitate school readiness activities across all supported ECD centers.
Support smooth transition of children from ECD centers to formal primary education.
Establish and maintain strong partnerships with government institutions and ECD stakeholders in the district.
Collect, analyze, and report essential program data to support decision-making.
Support the establishment and use of community-managed information management systems.
Monitor child development and facilitate referrals to specialized services when required.
Promote community resource mobilization to sustain ECD services and motivate caregivers.
Support caregivers in developing daily lesson plans and play-based learning activities.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development, Nursery Education, or Education.
Minimum 3 years of teaching experience at lower primary level.
At least 2 years of experience working with an NGO in direct project implementation.
Minimum 3 years of experience in ECD programming.
Specialized training in Early Childhood Education is an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of play-based learning methodologies.
Experience in mentoring or peer coaching.
Proven experience in project monitoring, data collection, and reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda.
