Job Overview
RwandAir Ltd, the national flag carrier airline of Rwanda, operates domestic and international flights across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East from its hub at Kigali International Airport. As part of its expansion strategy, RwandAir is seeking a qualified and competent Data Center Engineer to support and manage the organization’s IT infrastructure.
The role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of RwandAir’s data center and related infrastructure, including network connectivity, servers, storage, power systems, and support services.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain data center power infrastructure from main switches to rack-level PDUs, including UPS systems and switchgear.
Manage servers, storage systems, network equipment, and call center infrastructure.
Determine optimal placement of new compute and storage equipment in line with power, cooling, and industry best practices.
Maintain physical and cyber security controls, conduct audits, and enforce access and change management procedures.
Develop and implement best practices to reduce downtime and improve reliability, safety, and energy efficiency.
Collect, analyze, and maintain infrastructure performance data and provide reports to IT leadership.
Respond to scheduled and unscheduled outages to ensure business continuity.
Provide effective and professional user support services.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience managing power and cooling infrastructure in a large data center, or 3 years of operational experience within a power and cooling infrastructure team.
Proven experience in data center infrastructure management.
Strong knowledge of power distribution, conditioning, and cooling technologies.
Familiarity with data center standards and guidelines.
Possession of relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, MCSA, ITIL, or VMware certifications.
Skills & Personal Attributes
Knowledge of compute and storage systems.
Experience with server virtualization technologies.
Familiarity with airline systems is an added advantage.
Strong understanding of computer networks, server and storage administration, and system maintenance.
Experience in data center infrastructure design, including power and cooling.
Proficiency in managing Windows Active Directory, Linux/Unix systems, and Exchange Server administration.
Strong problem-solving skills and a positive attitude toward user support.
