Position Overview

The Sales Manager will lead and build a high-performing field sales team responsible for client acquisition. This is a hands-on role involving field coaching, strategy execution, and performance management to drive business growth.


Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership (60%)

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of 10โ€“15 sales agents

  • Coach team members on consultative selling approaches

  • Conduct regular field visits (ride-alongs) to support team performance

  • Hold weekly pipeline reviews and track conversion rates

  • Build a high-performance and motivated sales culture

2. Strategy & Execution (30%)

  • Develop and implement acquisition strategies for assigned territories

  • Identify high-potential business areas (markets, industrial zones, business hubs)

  • Design and execute territory plans

  • Test and optimize client acquisition channels (events, referrals, partnerships)

  • Drive team targets of onboarding 100โ€“300 clients monthly

  • Monitor performance and adjust strategies accordingly

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration (10%)

  • Work with marketing on campaigns, messaging, and promotional materials

  • Provide market insights to the product team

  • Coordinate with telesales teams on lead management and follow-ups


Qualifications & Requirements

Must Have

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in:

    • Field sales or marketing management
      (Preferably in financial services, FMCG, or microfinance)

  • Proven experience managing teams (at least 3 people)

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Wholesale, import, and distribution businesses

  • Strong leadership and coaching skills

  • Data-driven decision-making ability

  • Comfortable working in field environments (markets, industrial areas, business premises)

  • Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda

Nice to Have

  • Experience with CRM systems
