Position Overview
The Sales Manager will lead and build a high-performing field sales team responsible for client acquisition. This is a hands-on role involving field coaching, strategy execution, and performance management to drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership (60%)
Recruit, train, and manage a team of 10โ15 sales agents
Coach team members on consultative selling approaches
Conduct regular field visits (ride-alongs) to support team performance
Hold weekly pipeline reviews and track conversion rates
Build a high-performance and motivated sales culture
2. Strategy & Execution (30%)
Develop and implement acquisition strategies for assigned territories
Identify high-potential business areas (markets, industrial zones, business hubs)
Design and execute territory plans
Test and optimize client acquisition channels (events, referrals, partnerships)
Drive team targets of onboarding 100โ300 clients monthly
Monitor performance and adjust strategies accordingly
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration (10%)
Work with marketing on campaigns, messaging, and promotional materials
Provide market insights to the product team
Coordinate with telesales teams on lead management and follow-ups
Qualifications & Requirements
Must Have
Minimum 5 years of experience in:
Field sales or marketing management
(Preferably in financial services, FMCG, or microfinance)
Proven experience managing teams (at least 3 people)
Strong understanding of:
Wholesale, import, and distribution businesses
Strong leadership and coaching skills
Data-driven decision-making ability
Comfortable working in field environments (markets, industrial areas, business premises)
Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda
Nice to Have
Experience with CRM systems
