Ambucycle is dedicated to delivering rapid, global-standard prehospital emergency care. The organization’s mission is to develop highly skilled and compassionate first responders capable of navigating traffic efficiently to address urgent medical needs.
Ambucycle operates a motorcycle-based emergency response system designed to reach patients quickly and provide immediate lifesaving interventions before hospital transfer.
The Role
The First Responder (Nurse) will serve as the frontline medical professional during emergency situations. The selected candidate will operate a motorcycle to quickly reach emergency scenes, assess patient conditions, and deliver critical prehospital care.
The role involves stabilizing patients experiencing cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and trauma-related emergencies before and during transfer to the next level of care.
Key Responsibilities
Based on Ambucycle’s core competency framework, the First Responder will perform the following duties:
Rapid Response: Safely operate a motorcycle to reach emergency scenes promptly.
Clinical Assessment: Conduct rapid and accurate evaluations of patient conditions including trauma, airway, breathing, and circulation.
Emergency Intervention: Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) interventions such as:
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Airway management and suctioning
Hemorrhage control
IV/IO access and fluid administration
Triage and Scene Management: Assess scene safety, prioritize patient care based on severity, and coordinate with police and emergency teams.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of patient status, interventions, and vital signs using standard reporting systems.
Communication: Provide clear and empathetic updates to patients and families and ensure professional handover to receiving hospital teams.
Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
Professional License: Valid registration and license to practice nursing in Rwanda.
Driving License: Valid motorcycle driving license.
Health Status: Must be in good physical and mental health.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications will be considered an advantage:
Experience working in Emergency Care, ICU, or Trauma Units.
Ability to perform effectively under high-pressure environments.
Strong communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda (written and spoken).
